Clamp for carving support

Here are the things you need to build a simple clamp to lock wood pieces onto my homemade carving support: http://intagliomanuale.blogspot.com/2014/04/supporto-da-intaglio.html, but in English. To get started, check out my 3D printable models collection at https://www.redpah.com/profile/648/mascal. I've put together some step-by-step instructions to help you build your own clamp: Build the Clamp To make this clamp work, you'll need a few basic parts: 3 M6 threaded rods that are about 10-15cm long, 5 M6 nuts, 1 M6 wingnut, and two equal rubber bands. Look at the pictures to get an idea of how everything fits together. What You Need to Print There aren't many tricky parts to print for this clamp, but a few need to be printed with some special care: The movable pin is where you put a lot of pressure on when you use the clamp, so it needs to be really strong. I printed mine with 100% infill because it's such a small part. The base has another small pin that doesn't move. This also needs to be super strong. If you can print just this bit with more infill than the rest of the base, do that. Otherwise, either print the whole thing with extra infill (which takes ages) or make sure you leave enough room around the stationary pin so it prints properly. The base has a bridged slot in it for the moving pin to fit through. I had some trouble printing this bit (it needed adjusting halfway through), but you can get round this by using some supports. How to Assemble the Clamp Assemble your clamp like this: Lock down two side rods to the moving part with four nuts each. Tighten the wingnut to one remaining rod, and hold it in place with a nut, just as shown. Make sure any slots you leave for the nuts are big enough so they can fit properly over printed parts - if not, adjust them before you print anything. And that's it!
