Clachmhor Cup Marked Stone, Culnakirk 0820
sketchfab
NH 4992 3109: 'Clachmhor' rests near the eastern edge of the farm of Culnakirk. It is a massive flat slab of grey gneiss, measuring sixteen feet long, nine feet wide, and one foot thick, lying north and south. The southern half of this stone bears 113 cup-marks up to four and a quarter inches in diameter and one and an eighth inches deep, many paired together by grooves. Distinct signs indicate that 'Clachmhor' was once surrounded by a circle of boulders or standing stones. Several of these remnants still remain, two or three feet wide, fifteen to seventeen feet apart, on the north and east sides, and from thirty-five to forty feet away from 'Clachmhor'. On the southwest side, the circle has been erased by a rough cart track that crosses its location. W Jolly 1882.
