Ciudad Rodrigo Peninsular War Battlefield LiDAR
sketchfab
The low-relief visualization of the Spanish LiDAR for Ciudad Rodrigo displays the bastion defenses of the town and the 1812 allied siege earthworks on the Great Teson hill to the north. Having been besieged and taken by the French under Marshall Ney in 1810, Wellington's Anglo-Portuguese army besieged and recaptured the town between January 7th and 20th, 1812. A camp and siege engineers park was erected to the north of the Great Teson Hill and Redoubt Renaud was attacked via an approach trench and captured on January 8th. Two parallel trenches with gun batteries were then built on the southern slopes of Great Teson and the northernmost bastion of the town defenses was breached with heavy cannon fire along with a further breach on the north east side. The breaches were stormed, and the town was taken on January 20th.
