The city tower of Straubing, Lower Bavaria, stands out as a prominent landmark in the so-called "Gäubodenstadt". The tower rises an impressive 68 meters above the city, offering breathtaking views from its vantage point. This panoramic view was essential when the tower was first built in 1316 as a fire and watchtower. At night, citizens could rest easy knowing that someone was keeping watch, ready to sound the alarm in case of fire, thereby preventing larger conflagrations.
