Also known as Bohemian topaz; false topaz; quartz topaz; topaz quartz; yellow quartz. Natural citrine is extremely rare. Large quantities of amethyst, usually of lesser quality, are heated to turn them yellow or orange and sold as "citrine". This sample was probably an amethyst before it was heated.
