This is an authentic replica of a real fortress situated in the heart of Alexandria, Egypt. The original structure still stands at the westernmost tip of Pharos Island, replacing the old Manar Alexandria which was ravaged by a devastating earthquake that struck during the reign of Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad 702 years ago. Sultan al-Ashraf Abu al-Nasr Bey initiated construction on this fortress in the year 882 AH and completed it by 884 AH. His motivation for building it was to counter the frequent threats posed by the Ottoman Empire, which targeted not just Egypt but the entire Arab region as well. Mamluk sultan Qansuh Ghouri also took an interest in fortifying this castle, recognizing its strategic importance and bolstering its defenses with advanced weaponry.
