Circus train - for Maileg mice - for Duplo track

thingiverse

My granddaughter collects Maileg mice and has been working with her Mum to make a circus tent (with a couple of 3DP fittings from me) and she asked me once if I had thought of making a circus train. These files are my efforts to make a train for Christmas. The units are designed to the same dimensions as the DUPLO 12 peg train chassis, but with sides upscaled twice from an 009 model open coach, modified to have locating lugs. The wheels are modified from a Thingiverse Duplo car chassis but run on 4mm axles. The calliope is a reference to the Marvelous Mechanical Mouse Organ, familiar to those who remember Bagpuss - but the pipes are rather fragile and have extra epoxy around their roots and an added roof for protection. The generator with vertical boiler engine is designed to fit a smaller chassis (closer to the original car) but could be fixed on a shortened chassis as included here. The drive belt is not designed in, but added later. Wagon couplings snap on to the peg under the floor and click on to the external peg on the next truck. The forks need adjusting for the desired ease of coupling, with a needle file. The locomotive is a normal Duplo loco, glued together and painted to match the train.
