Circular Tiered Tool Holder
thingiverse
Keep your project workspace organized with a circular type tiered tool holder. Add an optional Lazy Susan bearing for smoother rotation. The Autodesk Fusion 360 file (.f3d) is a fully parameterized model where you can adjust everything in the model, including hole sizes, layer diameters and heights. (Layer heights are based on the golden ratio; modify only the first layer height, and others will follow.) Print Settings Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC Printer: Rostock MAX Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: .2mm Infill: 5% Notes: Used ESUN PLA+ 1.75 filament; do not recommend ABS due to warping and splitting factors. Use at least five layers for the bottom and top layers (gives strength for pointy ends of tools hitting the bottom of holes as well as provides structure for Lazy Susan bearing mount screws). Side layers can be three or four layers. Post-Printing Optional Lazy Susan bearing installation: Purchase a Lazy Susan bearing from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IK4OOW8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Install this one by following these steps: Find the center and draw a diagonal line across the base. Draw a perpendicular line through the center. Place the bearing on the base so the mounting holes align with lines you drew (centers the bearing). Drill four mounting holes in the base to accept mounting screws. (Five layers provide sufficient holding power for screws.) Add a small washer as a spacer between the base and bearing at each mounting point then screw the bearing to the base (allows enough distance for the bearing to work). Turn over and load your tools. With tools loaded, there should be enough weight to allow the tool holder to spin easily without wandering. If it does, use a high-friction pad (silicone mat or rubber router pad) to provide additional friction. How I Designed This Autodesk Fusion 360: If you have Autodesk Fusion 360, the Circular Tool Holder(F360).f3d file has parameters to define: Layer1Dia - base diameter; subsequent diameters based on this value along with layer hole diameter and margin. Layer1Hole - first layer hole diameter Height - height of the first layer. Subsequent layers based on this value and golden ratio. Margin - added to Layer1Hole value for an additional margin around holes. Layer1NumHoles - number of holes around the first layer. Layer1Depth - depth of each hole; subsequent layer depths based on layer heights. If modifying layer diameters, sometimes layer holes will merge. To fix this, modify the LayerxNumHoles. Of course, you can modify any and all parameters to your heart's desire.
