Circular Fountain Head
thingiverse
Another attempt at designing a fountain nozzle that produces a circular curtain of water. This design differs from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2170816 and is quite functional. It appears less prone to clogging with debris, but further testing over several days will confirm this. This model prints in two parts, which are joined using CA glue. Care must be taken when gluing to ensure the inner part aligns perfectly with the outer piece, or the spray pattern will become uneven. The design can be printed without support or raft, and it is significantly faster than my previous fountains (1 hour on my machine). Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator 1 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.25mm layers Infill: 20% Notes: Print the bottom piece with a 180-degree rotation, as the flat surface is at the top of the model. Design Process: While browsing commercially available fountain nozzles, I came across one that produced the desired stream type. Using Fusion 360, I created two revolved solids to model this nozzle, along with three support vanes to locate the inner piece. I plan to modify these vanes as they are likely to collect debris and may require a press fit to prevent them from becoming loose during printing. Scaling up the inner part slightly when slicing could help resolve this issue. Additionally, I think it would be beneficial to add more vanes than just three for improved performance.
