My friend was replacing the recessed downlights in his kitchen with new LED fixings. Unfortunately, the new fixings were slightly smaller than the existing ones and he asked me if I could produce something to fill the gap. I came up with a simple design using Tinkercad. It fitted the existed hole in the ceiling and (thankfully) still enabled the spring fixing of the new light fitting to extend across the 3d printed part and provide secure fixing to the ceiling plasterboard.Printed in PETG for the increased heat benefit. I printed a total of 8 of these for him once I had established the correct size for the purpose.
