A circuit breaker, in essence, is an electrical safety device designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by excess current from overload or short circuit. When the current flowing through the circuit exceeds its rated capacity, it automatically trips, thereby interrupting the flow of electricity and preventing further damage. Once the cause of the overload has been rectified, the breaker can be reset to continue normal operation.
