Blood Pressure Regulation: It also plays a role in regulating blood pressure in the brain, ensuring that it remains stable and consistent. 3. Aging can affect the circle of Willis, causing stenosis or narrowing of its arteries, which may lead to decreased cerebral circulation and increased risk of stroke or dementia. In some cases, surgical interventions like carotid endarterectomy may be necessary to restore blood flow to the brain.
