Circa 3D Printer V2.0
thingiverse
Hi everyone, I'm Willem Boshoff here with a thrilling announcement. The Circa 3D Printer V2 is now available for download and build at no cost whatsoever. This marks the second major public release of the Circa 3D printer since its inception in February 2017, and it's the first fully 3D printed iteration. The Circa 3D Printer is an open source project aiming to make 3D printing accessible to even more people through a unique form factor that provides numerous benefits to users by integrating rotational movement and 3D printing. Some of these benefits include: - A massive build volume to footprint ratio - 200mm diameter (x, y) by 350mm (z) build height in a package measuring just 360mm in diameter x 500mm in height. - A beautiful, minimalist design that's easy to construct and maintain, as well as lightweight and portable. - An entirely 3D printed body structure allowing printer 'self development' from day one. - Potential for continued expansion of capabilities including into other materials (food, ceramics & composites) and processes (laser cutting/ engraving, machining). - The rotating build plate is also used for 3D scanning of objects. - It's ridiculously cheap to build using a 3D printer with a build volume of just 300 x 300 x 100. - Wireless 3D printing using a Raspberry Pi and Octoprint also features an integrated LCD display with an SD card reader and USB connectivity. Further Project Details Include: - A video of the Circa 3D Printer in action - rebuilding one of its own parts can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHuzfRk7pzc - A video of the Circa 3D Printer's new build plate configuration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETctOZwH31c - Full bill of materials with links also included in the download. Most Up to Date version at https://github.com/WillemBoshoff/Circa-3D-Printer - Links for all software, firmware and settings required for the Circa Printer can be found at: https://github.com/WillemBoshoff/Circa-3D-Printer - If you would like to order a kit, or just the 3D printed components - please send me an email at Willem.vulpecula@gmail.com - Full build, calibrate and operate instructions to follow. - Project Donations via Paypal are most welcome. As always, thank you for your Interest in the project! I would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or questions you might have regarding the Circa 3D Printer. Happy printing. Willem Boshoff
