I've been itching to capture stunning aerial photos with my Quadcopter for quite a while now. I used to have a large drone equipped with a Gimbal, but nowadays it's too big and heavy to fly safely. This little quad is designed to fill the void once again. The idea behind this project is to run a Caddx Turtle or Runcam split mini camera with a lightweight 20x20 stack to capture smooth, high-definition video. I'm not sure if it will work, but you could potentially upgrade the motors and install a GoPro for an even more impressive setup. The ducts are designed to accommodate 3-inch props, and I've added three-millimeter holes in the joint connections to ensure a secure hold with a bolt through the entire assembly. Feel free to share your thoughts – I haven't printed or assembled this quad yet, but I'm eager to get started! One thing to note is that the duct walls are extremely thin, so it's essential to print them as finely as possible with 100% infill for optimal shape and strength. Update: November 2019 It's surprisingly possible to get this quad under 250 grams! My build with the Caddx Turtle V2 weighs exactly 250 grams on the button. To ensure a successful build, keep in mind: 1. Use short wires. 2. Limit your antenna size to something smaller than a lollipop. 3. Opt for a short power lead with an XT30 connector. 4. Avoid excessive shrink-sleeving. 5. I skipped the capacitor in my build, but the video quality is still amazing. 6. Use a small light battery strap. Update: January 2020 I've made some significant improvements to the design: 1. The new ducts are shorter by 4mm and thinner by about 0.3mm. 2. I've added additional mounting holes on the top plate for improved component mounting options. 3. The base plate V2 now features more mounting holes, including a center mount at 45 degrees, making it easier to access the USB port or install larger components. Update: April 2020 I've created some trial ducts with holes to make them even lighter! My quad is powered by a 650mah 3S battery and Eachine 1306 motors.
