Cigarette Case
thingiverse
After weeks of searching, I finally couldn't find a simple hinged case that met my needs, so I took matters into my own hands and created one. This design uses any standard 1.75mm filament as the hinge pin, making it very durable and strong, although not waterproof - but it's incredibly water-resistant. I recently found myself caught in a rainstorm while camping and was soaked from head to toe for hours, but amazingly, my cigs remained completely dry. I've included the original .stl files for individual printing, so feel free to use them as is or modify the editable file to suit your preferences. Your feedback - whether positive or negative - is greatly appreciated; I love hearing your thoughts and ideas on how I can improve in the future. Thanks a million! UPDATE: 9/7/2016 I've tightened up the hinges and added a locking mechanism so it stays closed. You may need to use some sandpaper to file down the locks on the side to get it just right. UPDATE: 12/11/2016 I've smoothed out the design and fixed the .stl files for better compatibility with slic3r and Repetier host. I've also added a new king-size bottom for 80mm king-size cigarettes, which uses the same lid. Printer Settings: Printer: XYZ Da Vinci Pro 1.0 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .20 mm Infill: 50% Notes: As long as you use a heated bed with ABS, no rafts or supports are needed. I've printed this design in PLA and ABS using Hatchbox filament at 220c and a bed temp of 90c for ABS, and 190c and 50c in PLA. Post-Printing: Assembly is a breeze: simply print both parts and join them together with a small piece of filament and a dot of CA glue on each end - it holds quite nicely in place.
