The model prints best when oriented as shown. The design without supports is simply a design without supports. If you print the unsupported version, ensure it's on build plate only mode; supports can ruin small details on the side. The ring in the image was printed at 0.12mm layer height, primed, and then painted silver. The gem was also primed before being painted blue. Both were finally sprayed with a clear gloss to protect their colors and make them shiny.
