The Château de Vêves is located in the municipality of Houyet (Province of Namur - Region of Wallonia in Belgium). The origins of this castle fortress date back to the second half of the 7th century when Pepin of Herstal built a villa that was later transformed into a small fortress by his successors in the 9th century. This fortress was destroyed in 1200 and rebuilt in 1220 by the Beaufort family, who made it a more powerful castle. The castle was again destroyed by the people of Dinant in the 15th century and was restored immediately. However, the castle suffered further damage caused by French revolutionaries in 1793. In the 18th century, the Liedekerke-Beaufort family restored the castle to its current appearance. It is one of Belgium's most beautiful medieval castles.
