This 3D build was expertly crafted in OpenScad and breaks down into three distinct sections - top, mid, and lower. The design is a precise 3D sketch of the steeple of the First United Church of Christ in Easton, PA. The project culminated with the addition of a wooden candy dish that I turned and the build being carefully glued to its top. Initially constructed between 1775-76, the current church building was later repurposed as a hospital for wounded Revolutionary War soldiers after battles at Trenton, Brandywine, and Germantown. In the 1830s, Thomas Ustick Walter, an emerging young architect, designed the steeple. He eventually gained widespread recognition and designed The Capital Building Dome in Washington. The church's steeple stands as Easton, PA's tallest structure to date. Restoration efforts for this iconic landmark have been ongoing since 2019. For the top part of the steeple, I leveraged a well-organized .SCAD file courtesy of Ari M Diacou. However, for simplicity's sake, an alternative approach would have been to use a basic cylinder with 8 sides: "cylinder(d1=width, d2=0,h=height, $fn=8);"
