Church of St. Sava - Serbia

Welcome to Belgrade! The Church of Saint Sava is a Serbian Orthodox church located in Belgrade. It's one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world and ranks among the biggest church buildings globally. It's dedicated to Saint Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church and an important figure in medieval Serbia. It's built on the Vračar plateau, where his remains were burned in 1595. From its location, it dominates Belgrade's cityscape, and is perhaps the most monumental building in the city. The original idea for the construction of the church dates back to 1895, but work didn't start until 1935 due to the Balkan and First World Wars. Construction was halted again during WWII, and it didn't resume until 1985. In 1999, work stopped once more during the NATO bombings of Belgrade. It wasn't until 2017 that the exterior was finally completed, and interior decoration is currently underway. Architecturally, it's designed as a Greek cross. The total height is 82 m (269 ft), and the dome weighs 4,000 tons. MiniWorld is thrilled to bring this charming model to life.
