On March 7, 1924, Bishop Juan Agustin Boneo granted permission to establish the Order of Discalced Carmelites in Rosario. A land acquisition took place at 1565 Avenida Pellegrini with engineer Agustin Grondona designing a building to house the Congregation for the Friars. On June 24, 1927, the official installation ceremony for the Discalced Carmelites was held. Initially, a small chapel had been used, but as the parish's activity increased, it became necessary to design a larger temple project. On May 17, 1932, the foundation stone was laid and blessed by Vicar General Andres Olaizola. The temple combines Romanesque style elements with modern elegance and the Gothic details' austerity. This creates an atmosphere of serene contemplation as intended for its destination. The building's silhouette has been a landmark in the Av. Pellegrini skyline for decades but unfortunately, it was recently partially overshadowed by a neighboring 22-story building that compromised the urban development criteria set by our Municipal Administration. Interestingly, the parish building is incorporated into the Urban Heritage Preservation Plan of Category A, Grade 1b protection status.
