Chunky chain - alternating coloured links

thingiverse

A chunky chain with alternating links in different colours can be achieved by using a unique printing technique. This results in a chain that is approximately 70cm long. To create a continuous loop, you can easily extend the chain using the following method. First, complete one full print in a single colour, which will yield 16 'yellow' links that can be removed from the build plate. Next, change to another colour, such as blue, and start printing again. When the build reaches a height of around 30mm, you can drop the 'yellow' links onto the partially formed 'blue' links. This adds an exciting challenge to the print. To increase the length of the chain, repeat the process and 'link in' your previous chain length. The photos demonstrate a chain with 46 links, which is longer than the natural 32-link chain that would be built without this technique.
