Chuck Puzzle (Level 8)
thingiverse
A traditional Chuck Puzzle crafted in 3D plastic fits together perfectly using eight different sizes of pieces, along with several "keyed" pieces to lock them all into place. To print this puzzle, you'll need multiple copies of various pieces: 6 x Size 8, 17 x Size 7, 1 x Size 7-Key, 29 x Size 6, 1 x Size 6-Key, 41 x Size 5, 1 x Size 5-Key, 53 x Size 4, 1 x Size 4-Key, 65 x Size 3, 1 x Size 3-Key, 77 x Size 2, 1 x Size 2-Key, 88 x Size 1, and 2 x Size 1-Key. I recommend printing in batches of 12 or 24 pieces to ensure a smooth process. I've designed the pieces with precision, leaving no room for error. If you encounter any issues with tight or loose fits, you may need to adjust your print settings accordingly. Be prepared to invest a significant amount of time into printing this puzzle, as it will require approximately 120 grams of plastic. Printing this puzzle won't be a cakewalk, but the end result is well worth the effort. You'll need to set up your printer with the following specifications: Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC; Printer: Rostock MAX; Rafts: No; Supports: No; Resolution: 0.1mm; Infill: 100%. I used Slic3r within Repetier Host to slice my design, and printed it using ABS plastic with a bed temperature of 94 degrees Celsius and an extruder temperature of 225 degrees Celsius, utilizing a 0.35mm nozzle. To achieve the perfect fit, I utilized Slic3r's "XY Size Compensation" feature, setting it to -0.15mm to shrink the pieces slightly. You can adjust this value to achieve either a tighter or looser fit. I designed this puzzle using Autodesk 123D Design, relying on 2mm as the base measurement for all pieces. Each additional piece is 12mm longer than the last, creating a sense of progression and complexity. To make this puzzle even more challenging, you can experiment with making longer and longer pieces by adjusting the dimensions accordingly. The keys in this puzzle are created by removing a 1mm chunk from the sides of each piece, adding an extra layer of complexity to the design.
