I hated always crawling under the tree to see if it was time to add water. Checking the reservoir took too much effort. So, let's make something that simplifies both tasks! **UPDATE 29-Nov-2019** I broke my old funnel, so I decided to create an improved one: Rotate the bottom of the funnel by 45 degrees to match the hose's natural bend. Add holes on the sides to attach a micro switch and hold batteries in place with a wire tie. Thinning the sidewalls reduced material usage. The portion that inserts into the hose now has a lead-in chamfer, straight diameter, and round barb for secure placement. Adjusting the hole size accommodated my LED's internal dimensions. Adding a loop to attach it to a branch keeps it in place. This new funnel was printed with eSun PLA Pro (+) using 0.2mm layers and 100% infill. Print Settings: Printer: Marvin Printer Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 20% Notes: All parts were printed in PLA, including the battery holder and float support in black. Post-Printing Parts: Float Switch signaling at the top and bottom of its travel Dishwasher tubing Cable Ties 2-Color LED Small switch LR44 Batteries 2-cell LR44 holder: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1134235. Heat Shrink Tubing Assembly: The wiring was straightforward since I planned to use coin cell batteries (LR44). A NO switch between the batteries and the LED minimized power usage and preserved battery life. All connections were soldered and covered with heat-shrink tubing. I didn't secure the wiring inside the funnel's recess, making it easy to change batteries as needed. The wiring was cable-tied to extra dishwasher tubing. Simply feed the tube down the tree, snap on a tree stand screw, and voila! I no longer have to crawl under the tree! A bonus is that my kids now enjoy watering the tree; how about that?
