This is a basic module that substitutes for one of the key points in the impressive 12-point hanging star: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:35866 and makes it a tree topper. Parametric OpenSCAD file is attached, so you can customize for your tree or bulb. A pentagonal ring docks neatly onto the star as is. The vent holes serve double duty as branch tip slots. There's also a bulb slot designed specifically for a single E27 LED spotlight. Tweak to suit your needs. Print Settings Printer: Flashforge Creator Pro Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: sparse Notes: Print the module upside down, with the large opening facing down. I printed the star points using natural translucent PETG material. This is a beautiful design that prints easily. This piece printed in green ABS plastic. Rafting is highly recommended for ABS; you may not need it for PETG or PLA though. The infill was set at 20%, but it could be even lower. USE LED BULB ONLY! IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO USE INCANDESCENT BULBS AT ALL! Plug the module in for a few hours and ensure that heat isn't a problem before placing it on your flammable Christmas tree. I can comfortably hold the bulb in my hand at its maximum temperature. Have fun! Post-Printing Print 11 points and glue them up together using CA adhesive, but I really recommend using Quick Grip instead. Then print this piece to fill the gap. This module is designed to support a 3W RGB color-changing LED E27 base bulb. I acquired mine from Amazon for under $6 with an IR remote control. The vent holes serve double duty as mount points for your tree's branch tip. I also used a low-profile light socket plug, which is available on Amazon, to connect to the light string (see images). The socket screws onto the underside of the bulb mount, securing everything in place. This was my printer's maximum build height capacity.
