Christmas tree topper (star)
thingiverse
I only modified a few specifics in the original stl-file from Firebulb: * most importantly, I trimmed about half a millimeter at the bottom so the entire star-shape touches the build plane without any gaps in some places. * I enlarged the model up to approximately 275 mm in height (the original is around 200 mm) for two reasons: first, so the thick tip of our Christmas tree would fit into the hole; second, to make the ornament more robust and bring out the smallest details at the tips of the star. Unfortunately, this didn't work as you can see from the pictures. * I eliminated a small particle floating in mid air (not sure it even matters, but I wanted to prevent the slicer from building support underneath it). * For the second half of the model, I mirrored it in the XY-plane to ensure both halves align perfectly. This was necessary because the model is not 100% symmetrical.
