Christmas tree
thingiverse
This is a simple tree model that makes it easy to add various colored decorations. The parts fit together smoothly, but if you prefer, you can glue them together (just make sure your glue and filament are compatible first!). I printed the larger sections at 0.25 resolution and the decorations at 0.1 resolution. For the tree and pot to stand upright, a reasonable amount of infill is required so the sockets support the trunk properly when it's inserted. I used honeycomb at 7.5% and recommend using no less than that. The pegs are 4mm in diameter, while the sockets on the baubles measure 4.3mm. This allows them to fit snugly without being too difficult to attach or remove. Wherever you need supports will depend on your printer's capabilities. If you're unsure, it's best to use supports wherever your slicer suggests, but if you trust your printer can handle short unsupported sections, you might get away with supporting only the build plate. There are 32 bauble pegs in total, and they look their best when used in sets of 8 different colors or 16 pairs of two colors each. If you design other ornaments to fit on the pegs, consider using a 4.3mm socket as well. I'd love to see what you come up with!
