Christmas Train
thingiverse
I recently discovered that some people are selling my design files as their own creations. While you're free to build and sell models from my designs, the actual files themselves are a gift to the community for teaching me so much and should remain freely available. Don't be dishonest. This train is designed to use 3mm plywood or MDF. I love trains and finally decided to design one. Only about 20 hours of design time was needed, which isn't bad considering I'm not a professional at this. It has cartoonish proportions because it's meant to be displayed during Christmas time. Modifying it to be more realistic would be easy enough, but my wife loves it the way it is. The train includes a steam engine, coal car, open top car, log carrying car, and a caboose. I've included CDR, DXF, DWG, and PDF files. I'm using a Chinese 40w laser cutter with Corel Draw X7. I understand that my laser cutter behaves differently than many of the nicer consumer brands, so your results may vary. Please leave me a comment if you see areas where I can make changes to make things easier for other laser cutters. The Chinese laser cutter only recognizes color and white, so the different colors are only for visual reference in my files. Some cutters treat colors differently, which may cause problems for some.
