I added a tag RemixChallenge, even though neither of my source items made it to the challenge collection - I put in some quality work and the stuff in the challenge just didn't grab me. I did read the rules, unlike a lot of other remixes I saw. ;)\nI printed out a Christmas story leg lamp (http://www.thingiverse.com/make:268173) with its revised shade (http://www.thingiverse.com/make:268181) for a coworker. Another coworker loved it and wanted to convert his to use an LED light inside, rather than just adding a tea light. I came up with the idea of printing the leg portion with zero percent infill so he could run wiring through it, but found that the original lamp base had a foot intact - complete with toes - which caused some complications. The original base was also too small for our planned electronics, so I worked on it by cutting out the hidden parts and then sewing it back together. I modeled a new base and added that in, and was able to print it hollow.\nFor the shade, since we didn't need access for a tea lamp, I took the revised lamp shade, split it in two and mirrored one half. After doing some cleanup work, we had a fully intact lampshade.\nPrint the base in any color you want, but print the shade with transparent filament so it glows nicely.\nFor our assembled version, we used a 10mm high-intensity diffuse gumdrop LED. A CR2032 battery was placed in the base and a switch was installed on the side. More detailed photos are coming soon.\nUpdate: Check out this remix by jetpuf for some nice improvements to the design - including provision for LEDs!\nUpdate: December 18, 2019 Looking at this project, I came across an impressive remix of jetpuf's remix that was printed a whole lot closer to actual size! Great job, Roseks!\nPrint Settings\nPrinter:\n Monoprice Maker Ultimate\n \n Rafts:\n No\n \n Supports:\n Yes\n \n Resolution:\n 0.2mm\n \n Infill:\n Zero percent\n \n Notes:\n Printed hollow for ease of running wires through the leg. Supports are necessary because the base is hollow.
