The three-millimeter LEDs are mounted at the rear. There's ample space within the box for a straightforward electronic circuit. A combination of an ATtiny85 microcontroller and an ULN2003 IC enables the LED lights to blink. The accompanying photograph reveals partially installed soft-fade LEDs, whose colors gradually shift. When powered by a 5-volt supply, no series resistors are necessary unless you intend to dim the light.
