I would recommend printing the brim and ball simultaneously in white first. Next, print the hat in red separately. Once both parts are printed, simply slide the brim onto the hat. To secure the ball to the hat, apply a small drop of super glue. For attaching it to my BB-8, I use a dab of blu-tack or sticky tack - this should provide sufficient hold to keep it in place.
