Christmas Snowman Tin (Single extruder multi-colour)
thingiverse
This Christmas container uses layering to produce a four-colour snowman tin without any special equipment and no mid-job filament changes. Here's how to print the white tin pictured. I strongly suggest you read all of this before printing - it's straightforward, but unusual! I recommend setting your layer height to 0.2mm because that is what the layers are set up for. If your slicer preview doesn't show the rectangular border around BlackST.stl, GreenST.stl etc., then lower your extrusion width slightly so it fits comfortably within the border's 0.5mm width. To print a white tin: Print BlackST.stl in black with a one-perimeter brim. Leave it on the print bed. Next, print GreenST.stl in green with a one perimeter brim. Leave it on the print bed. Now, print RedST.stl in red with a one perimeter brim. Leave it on the print bed. Finally, print WhiteSTLid.stl in white with your usual skirt or whatever (i.e., as you usually print). Remove the completed lid from the bed and then print Print Box.stl in white in your usual way. To print a red box, print [the three other colours]ST.stl, followed by RedSTLid.stl, all layered on top of each other. Then, print Box.stl in red. To print a green box, print [the three other colours]ST.stl, followed by GreenSTLid.stl, all layered on top of each other. Then, print Box.stl in green. To print a black box, print [the three other colours]ST.stl, followed by BlackSTLid.stl, all layered on top of each other. Then, print Box.stl in black. Enjoy! I added a one-layer box around each of the layered prints so that when your slicer centres the job, it doesn't mess up the alignment. However, having a small brim switched on ensures that the slicer starts with the outside of the job. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: RepRap Kossel Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm highly recommended Infill: N/A Notes: Four top layers, four bottom layers (makes for a sturdy tin). Three perimeters ensure the print is solid (no infill happens at all). You can set infill to 100% if you wish, but that shouldn't make any difference.
