Christmas Ornaments - Compound Polyhedra
thingiverse
Three Christmas ornaments, crafted from dodecahedrons and icosahedra, possess either octahedral or icosahedral symmetry. The polyhedra's principal axes align with their 2-fold axes. Before combining, one was rotated by 90 degrees around the x-axis. OpenSCAD generates these models, which are repairable in Netfabb Studio before printing on a raft with external support for about three hours using 2 shells and 5% infill. For more information on compound polyhedra, visit George Hart's Virtual Polyhedra Site (http://www.georgehart.com/virtual-polyhedra/compounds-info.html). Initially, the STL files were multi-shelled and unclosed, requiring Netfabb Studio for repairs.
