This Christmas personalized ornament was designed using TinkerCAD to make it easy to modify the 3D print template with the recipient's name and add various snowflakes, stars, or decorations around the name to enhance its appeal. Two .STL file templates are included: one with a polygonal ring and one with a circular ring. The polygonal ring measures 100mm in diameter, while the circular ring is 80mm in size. Feel free to resize them as desired. Seven snowflake .STL files are also provided as examples of objects that can be used to decorate the ornament. Simply import the separate snowflake .STL files you want, place and resize them where needed in the decoration. To change the name or text on the ornament, I use Microsoft Word. A Word file with instructions and a sample text is included for your reference. Open the NameText.docx MSWord file to follow these steps: 1. Write the name in Font Script MT Bold at the desired size. I used font size 72, but you can choose bold or italic as you prefer. 2. Take a screenshot of the name text and save it as a .JPG image file. Crop the image to just around the name, and an example is included for your reference. 3. Convert the name text image from .JPG to .SVG (SVG files are directly importable into TinkerCAD). You can use online file conversion sites like "online-convert.com" for this purpose. To do this on online-convert.com: a. Click the Image Converter down arrow and select convert to SVG. b. Drag the name .JPG file into the "Drop Files here" upload box. c. Adjust image settings as needed (I left defaults). d. Click "Start conversion." e. An SVG version of the uploaded file will be available. 4. Import the resulting SVG file into TinkerCAD. To complete the ornament, adjust the name text to fit as desired and adjust or change the snowflakes (or other background decorations). In my example, I overlapped a few snowflakes with the name text for added strength. Please note that the chosen font may leave one or two letters unattached from the main text, which can be supported by additional snowflake objects. In this case, I had to manually add space above the letter "e" by creating a cylinder "hole" and grouping it with the newly placed object. Once you're done modifying the ornament, group all the objects together. Be aware that some snowflakes may lose detail if you downsize their .STL files. It's recommended to resize the ring and name text first, then adjust the snowflakes accordingly as a last step. Notes: - The circle STL was created with the maximum number of sides to approximate a circle as closely as possible. - I increased the wall size of the small ring to enhance its strength by holding the ornament in place. - I removed the original ring and polygonal circle as separate objects, and pulled out the snowflakes from the template to include them as separate .STL files. Any number of background objects can be used to replace the included snowflakes, such as stars or pine trees/branches. Simply search for "star SVG" online, and you'll find many sites offering free SVG objects that can be imported into TinkerCAD. Thanks for taking a look!
