Saint Hubertus is believed to have lived from around 656 to 30 May 727. He rose through the ranks of his faith and became the Bishop of Liège in 708 AD. Traditionally known as the Apostle of the Ardennes, people would seek his aid to alleviate rabies, making use of the St. Hubert's Key up until early in the 20th century.
