Christams Garlands
thingiverse
The garlands comprise of roughly spherical units that connect to form chains. Two sizes - tiny and small - are available, with the latter also functioning as necklaces and bracelets. Multiple copies are included in the stl files named 'tiny.stl' and 'small.stl'. OpenSCAD code is provided for customization. For printing, I used ABS on a Makerbot Replicator, with 3 shells, directly onto the build platform. Tiny.stl, with 12 copies, took approximately 90 minutes to print while small.stl, with 9 copies, took around 2 hours. To assemble the units, hold two of them at an angle and twist carefully. The small unit has a longer neck, allowing for disassembly by a gentle twist when held at a significant angle. However, tiny units are less easily disassembled. ABS is not flexible, especially when cold, so it's advisable to warm the material slightly before assembling or disassembling. Other plastics with more flexibility may be more suitable for this purpose and can be explored using the OpenSCAD code.
