This is a little pool rc boat I designed during covid. Notice I didn't say speed boat, 'cuz it ain't really. It's just for tooling around. It's got LEDs so it looks cool at night.I am not really a rc boat guy, so there are some obvious things I shouldn't have done. The hull design is inspired by old school Chris Craft wooden speed boat, a modern yacht company named Pardo and my imagination. Printing: print in whatever you want, just remember you need to seal the hull. I used spray on seal, paint and silicone sealant for any little holes and around the motor wires. Note: the 5mm LED at the bottom of the bow will have to be sealedAll the little screws are M2. I suggest zinc plated as some of them will need to be magnetic to secure the hatch. Otherwise use stainless steel to stave off corrosion.I used a spectrum HS2065/HS2070 (cyclic servos from a Blade 150s heli), a 18a boat esc, a 11mm micro quad brushless motor and a 650s 2s battery. This setup has more power than this boat can actually handle, so you can size it down and it'll scoot nicely. Remember, it's not meant to be fast (mainly due to my lack of boat design skills). The motor is immersed in the water so you don't want to put this in saltwater. Be sure spin the motor good after pulling out of the water. If you leave any water in the motor, it will rust. Given this model is a bit complex, I am working on a drawing set to aid in fab and assembly. Stay tunedUPDATE: I iterated the prop design to improve efficiency. the file is barrelback prop 1.8.stl. I've tested it and it seems to be a significant improvement w/ no other changes.
