Chopper Arm Support Rig

Chopper Arm Support Rig

When building my Chopper, I accidentally swapped the left and right uprights without realizing it until the frame was glued together. This meant that the legs would be backwards. Rather than scrapping the entire frame, I came up with a solution that has held up great for over a year now. Important: To make this modification solid as possible, please print at high infill - you want it to support your Chopper's legs perfectly. Here is how you can fix the issue: 1. Use the adjustment rigs as drilling guides first. You will put bolts through the adjustment rig onto your legs and then use the remaining holes as a drill guide. This requires drilling through your uprights to make room for new bolts, which can be messy. When it's done, clean up and widen the wholes. Check my photos for an example of what this looks like. 2. Place the rear support from inside Chopper's body, fitting it snugly against the upright. Use a generous amount of plastic epoxy on both the part touching the inside of Chopper's body and on the support rods to the inside of the upright. Every little bit counts. 3. Add the front piece to the exterior of the upright, gluing it in place with plastic epoxy. Now you should be able to put your bolts through from the front piece, through the drilled-out upright, and through the back piece. Don't ask me for the original upright or leg files - I don't have permission to share them!
