Choker Clasp

Choker Clasp

For a unique accessory, I crafted a choker-style necklace from WS2811 addressable LED strands measuring 1cm wide. To secure it, I devised a clasp mechanism inspired by the CLASP Simpler Watchband design. Initially, I used a simple connector, but discovered that it sometimes popped open when my neck tensed. Thus, I added a tooth that hooks into the sewable hole in the male end. By sewing the female part with the tooth facing outwards, a tight fit presses the tooth against its counterpart for a more secure attachment while still allowing easy removal. To create this piece, I used a Makerbot Replicator 2 with Makerbot "Natural" clear PLA filament, employing Makerware software and 'High' profile settings with shells set to 8 for optimal strength and appearance.
