Choked gear with ball
pinshape
This is a gear profile with a large base and top that is lofted inward toward the center. A sphere is added in the center, touching the build surface but not attached to the rest of the object. Use your own judgment when printing, but I believe a good printer should be able to create this object without using supports. That's why I've chosen not to add any. My main concern with the bottom of the sphere would be whether or not it needs support. This is a new design that hasn't been tested yet. The idea behind it is that the ball will roll around inside the gear-shaped "cage" when you move it around, so the ball should have some weight to it. I recommend at least 15% infill for this print. The top of the object is left open, allowing you to see down inside. This design would make a great 2-color print, but unfortunately, my printer only has one color capability. I designed this in inches, so be sure to adjust the settings accordingly if you're printing in millimeters.
