Chisel / Plane Honing / Sharpening Jig
thingiverse
This is a sharpening/honing jig for chisels and plane irons. It can be adapted for various bevel angles and chisel widths. To speed up finishing edges, prepare all used whetstones to be the same height. That way you have to adjust the grinding angle only one time during the whole process. Tip 1: Prepare all used whetstones to be the same height so that you can adjust the grinding angle only once during the entire process. To adjust the jig to the existing angle of a chisel quickly and precisely, paint the bevel with a Sharpie. Adjust the required angle by eye. Then scrub the chisel lightly over the stone. The grinding marks will tell you immediately which way to re-adjust. Printer Settings: Printer: Prusa I3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm layer Infill: 20% Notes: All parts are printed in PLA, except the roller sleeve, which is made of soft PLA. The roller sleeve is printed in spiraling mode. Post-Printing: Assemble as shown on photos. Various M5 and M6 screws and nuts are needed. I added extra brass washers as bearings on the roller. It works okay, but dedicated ball bearings would be perfect. To prevent slipping, I glued a little piece of sheet rubber to the roller clamp.
