Chirnells Moor N06 (Feb 2006)
sketchfab
Stone situated on private farmland near Glitteringstone, roughly one thousand metres northeast of Thropton, Northumberland. This find might have been discovered by NADRAP Team 3 during their surveys in 2006. Referenced as 'Chirnells Moor N05,' the team added it to ERA in 2008 and described: Stone has been extracted from its block and other areas due to quarrying. Three well-made, aligned circular cups are located on the sloping lower section. No tool marks are visible. The largest cup mark measures 0.08 metres north-south by 0.07 metres east-west. Other higher surfaces exhibit pronounced weathering, resulting in flat-bottomed cup-like features and deep channels. ERA & BA information can be found at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=1173. A 3D model was created from three stereo pairs captured by Joe Gibson, Bernie O'Neil, and Keith Elliott of NADRAP Team 3 in February 2006. The imagery forms part of the full NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England & Northumberland County Council.
