Chipped Knife Artifact Found at the Hardaway site (31St4) in Stanly County, North Carolina, this ancient tool dates back to the Early Archaic period, spanning from 8000-6000 BC. Made from high-quality metavolcanic rock, the knife measures 123.7 mm in length, 39.4 mm in width, and a sturdy 8.2 mm in thickness. A significant find, this specimen was generously donated by Herbert M. Doerschuk to the North Carolina Archaeological Collection at Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Modelled with precision by Chris LaMack, this chipped knife is a valuable addition to the collection, offering insights into the lives and craftsmanship of our ancient ancestors.
