Phalanx 2, digit 2 from a Chinstrap penguin (Pygoscelis antarctica). The original specimen is part of the Canterbury Museum's collections, accession number AV32995. A digital bone replica was created by Daniel Thomas from the School of Natural and Computational Sciences at Massey University, utilizing an HP SLS-2 3D Scanner with HP 3D scan 5 software (further processed in Blender 2.74). The dimensions of the bounding box for the bone measure 2 x 19 x 6 mm.
