sketchfab
Phalanx digit 2 from a Chinstrap penguin (Pygoscelis antarctica) is preserved at the Canterbury Museum, housed with accession number AV32995. A digital bone replica of this specimen was created by Daniel Thomas from Massey University's School of Natural and Computational Sciences using an HP SLS-2 3D Scanner in conjunction with HP 3D scan 5 software. Post-processing involved utilizing Blender 2.74. The measurements for the bounding box enclosing the digit are 4 x 25 x 9 mm. A standard system of digit numbering was adopted, following a discussion presented in Xu & Mackem's 2013 publication in Current Biology, accessible via https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.2013.04.071.
