Chinese Windlass
thingiverse
This is the Chinese Windlass model from 507 Mechanical Movements. You can find it at http://507movements.com/mm_129.html and http://507movements.com/mm_352.html. To build this windlass, you will need a few essential parts: a 3/8-inch dowel rod, two 1/2-inch #6 sheet metal screws, and one 1-3/4-inch #8 machine screw with nut. It's highly recommended that you assemble all the components on the dowel before attaching them to the handle and spool. To make the process smoother, pilot drill through both the handle and spool, then insert the screws. Finally, cut off the excess dowel ends for a clean finish.
