Traditional handmade spoons were crafted from porcelain, but today these iconic forms can be mass produced in plastic. Commissioned by Massey University Wellington in 2009, Bronwyn Holloway-Smith developed the art project series "Ghosts in the form of gifts." Find more details on this groundbreaking series at bronwyn.co.nz/projects/gifts/. Bronwyn's innovative work was awarded the prestigious Open Source in the Arts award (New Zealand) in 2010. "Ghosts in the form of gifts" is a unique collection of replica objects imagined as lost, misplaced or overlooked during the Museum of New Zealand's time in its former building on Buckle Street, now occupied by Massey University's College of Creative Arts. To bring these visions to life, Holloway-Smith combined traditional drawing techniques with digital 3D rendering and finally utilized the RepRap printer to create her stunning series.
