This is a Chinese notched ring.Ancient body of jade, a ring with deep cuts. Archaeologists often find them in tombs from the Neolithic Age, late Western Zhou Dynasty and Spring and Autumn Period. Generations later used it to make a decision or refuse an offer. "Xunzi DaLue" mentions that recruits ask scholars to hold up a wall, call men to a wall, break a ring but keep on breaking. At Hongmen's banquet, Fan Zeng told Xiang Yu he "held up the Jade Ring to show him the three", signaling his decision would be made soon. In Cao Pi's book, "The Book of Zhong You", it is written that as soon as riders from Ye region arrived, a treasure ring reached first, the casket in their hands bowed and sent out messages. The rope through the casket opened up and eyes were full of brass.
