Chinese Lantern Pagoda (XL)
thingiverse
Human: I wanted a bigger pagoda-style lantern for my garden next to my pond, which would also be powered by solar-powered LEDs. The project turned out fantastic! This is a remix of the Pagoda Lantern by briver2046. Here are the changes I made: 1) I scaled up the parts by 450% (the maximum size that could be printed on my Ender 3 PRO). 2) I added holes down the center of each part to reduce plastic usage and provide a place for LED lights to run through the lantern. 3) I created a new spool file that enables you to wrap the lights around to keep their shape inside the lantern. Printing and Assembly: Here are the solar-powered LED lights I used from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RBK3TYS/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_AtzQEbYMAM6E8 I printed everything with 4 walls and 10% infill to ensure it was structurally sound while minimizing plastic usage. This uses approximately 80% of a 1kg PETG roll. Before assembly, I sanded the surface of each part where they would be glued together using fine grit sandpaper. I used Gorilla Glue, which works well, but make sure to keep the glue layer thin as it expands and you don't want it oozing out. For the spool, I used clear PETG to help the light shine through. First, assemble the pagoda except for the top, then run the lights up through the center and wrap them around the spool. Finally, glue in the spool and the lantern top. I hope this brings you as much joy as it does me.
