A few years ago, I ended up with a qiantong cup and found out today from a co-worker that my use of this temple artifact was indeed wrong. Before I shake the cup to get a numbered stick (which would be associated to my fortune), I need to first throw these pair of crescent moon shaped 'dice' which allow the gods to tell me whether or not they'll even hear my prayers today. In Taiwanese, they're called 'bwah-bwei' and in Mandarin, the characters are 'jiao bei'.

Anyways, I designed one, printed it twice. Works like a charm. Now, ifyou are ever at a crossroads and forgot to bring your eight ball (or any other indecisive-brain outsourcing tool you usually defer to), then print a couple of these out, grab yourself a cup of joss sticks and figure your mess out. It's all good fun.

I've also got another thing that might fit in with the Chinese vibe: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1200841

Here's the wikipedia article that has almost everything you need to know about them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiaobei

If you found this useful, please share and be sure to peruse my other submissions which are almost as varied as they are many:

http://www.thingiverse.com/3E8/designs

... and, if the Spirit moves you, please feel free to dump a bitcoin or two here:

1Py3TUeR8noBN2giHyFV1GfB6x3Kh2WEVv

Enjoy!
Category: Dice
