This kit is a highly recommended add-on upgrade for the standard clamps that come with low-cost desktop routers. These clamps feature a slotted flange measuring 50mm x 18mm, two M6 bolts, and a wingnut accompanied by a washer. The kit introduces a stay for the end of the bolt that securely fits into the slot, utilizing the flat top hex bolt, which perfectly fits into the opening in the stay. Two end pieces friction fit snugly on each end of the flange. To secure the knob, an M6 hex bolt is required to be inserted into the hex opening. The modified clamp boasts several key advantages: - The bolt in the slot remains stationary, eliminating the need to hold it while tightening, allowing for effortless adjustments with one hand. - The end pieces provide a significantly firmer grip on the workpiece. - The end pieces can be positioned in either direction and either or both can be removed to offer multiple clamping configurations. Tip: Due to the rough machining on the stock metal clamps, it's highly advisable to smooth out the rough spots with a file, making it much simpler to slide the end pieces on and off.
